Joe Laracuente: "Dover always will hold a special place with me, thats where doorstopnation made it's debut on June 1st 2008 Ryan finished 29th after Engines problems

WHITE PLAINS, MARYLAND–May 20, 2009– NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver and La Plata, Maryland native Ryan Hackett will have some extra help on his truck when he drives it on May 29th at Dover International Speedway in the AAA Insurance 200. No, not the type of help that will get you suspended and bring with it a nice hefty fine from NASCAR. Ryan is pleased to announce the star t of what he hopes will be a long standing relationship with The Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation.

The Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation is a non-profit organization in operation since 1982. Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland its mission is to bring comfort, joy and hope to critically ill children and their families enabling them to renew their spirits mentally and physically.

Hackett and his team will be hosting some of the Foundation’s families on race day as part of Believe In Tomorrow’s “Hands on Racing Adventure.” Hands on Racing allows children a behind the scenes, up close and personal experience with these powerful automobiles and the drivers who pilot them. Believe In Tomorrow children who participate in Hands On Adventures have a history of falling in love with a sport or activity that they attend and tracking it during and after treatment. As they develop a new fascination for speed or continue watching their favorite athletes touring the country – whether on TV or online – the memories of routine hospital visits fade and become second to their new passion.

As part of the day’s activities the children will be given a special, behind-the-scenes tour of the NASCAR Camping World Truck garage area, check out the team’s race hauler, attend an autograph session, have their pictures taken with Ryan and his race truck and get to cheer him on as they watch the race from the stands. To bring a bit of extra luck Hackett has also donated space on the race truck and will sport a Believe In Tomorrow logo on it for the race.

Before the race the children will give their traditional support as part of the “hands on” adventure and paint their handprints around the logo. Hackett hopes that this will not only provide a memorable experience for these children but will also bring awareness to the foundation. The race will be televised nationally on SPEED and is typically viewed by over a million people along with the thousands in attendance at the race.

When asked about why he chose the Believe In Tomorrow foundation to support, Hackett stated that, “This is a foundation that has provided over 300,000 individual overnight accommodations to families when they need it most. They are a wonderful organization that puts 94% of every donation directly back into funding their programs.” As for the special nature of starting the relationship at the Dover race Hackett said, “Given that the foundation is based out of Baltimore and my hometown is La Plata, we thought that since Dover, Delaware would act as a home track for both of us this would be the perfect place to start this relationship.”

Coming off his NASCAR Truck Series career best finish of 18th place at Lowe’s Motor Speedway last weekend in only his third race in the series, Hackett looks to continue his success at Dover. Ryan hopes that fans will support the team at the race as well as support the charity. His website ryanhackett.net will have a “Believe In Tomorrow” logo on it that will link directly to the Foundation’s donation page.
